The 5000 Role Models program is a dropout prevention program that focuses on closing the knowledge and education gap between minority and majority male figures. This program introduces our young men to having accessibility and resources to help them strive in life. The program wants to ensure that students in grade K-12 are given a fair chance at life to graduate, increase their chance of landing a successful career and learn to behave like young men of the future.

The Best Buddies club creates lessons to be delivered to fellow students, creating an enriching environment for all. Students deliver the lessons each quarter, stretching bonds across all grade levels. The concept is that students learn well from their peers and enjoy the additional one on one attention, leading to learning gains.

MMS Cheer is a growing exciting cheerleading program that represents Margate Middle School. Our cheer team is responsible for promoting positive school spirit and pride, for encouraging good sportsmanship and upholding a positive image for our school. This team involves teamwork, cooperation, honesty, and sisterhood from each cheerleader. Being a part of this organization is a privilege and requires full commitment.

The purpose of the Environmental Club is to increase awareness of the relationships between human actions and our environment, educate the school community of steps that can be taken to improve our environment, and to encourage responsible environmental behaviors. Students who are interested in environmental advocacy and awareness are encouraged to join. The club is open to new members.

WHAT IS A KIDS WHO CODE CLUB?
Kids Who Code Clubs are meant for girls to join our sisterhood of supportive peers and role models, and use Computer Science to change the world. When you join a Club, you will be able to learn from fun and simple online coding tutorials, build community through interactive activities, and learn about inspiring role models. You then work in teams to design and build a Kids Who Code Project that solves real world problems you care about through code!

WHAT WILL I LEARN?
Our middle and high school Clubs encourage you to impact your community in a positive way through code. In order to build the skills you need to make an impact, you will learn how to code from our fun online tutorials and activities that will help you build animations, games, apps, and other things that you dream up! We have tutorials in Scratch, Python, Swift, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

The National Junior Honor Society strives to create an enthusiasm for academic scholarships, render service to the surrounding community, promote leadership, nourish character development, and advance the work of the NJHS among all members.  Members participate in community service projects while promoting academic achievement and the importance of knowledge in the lives of students.

Robotics:

Students will learn to use the components of the Lego kits to build robots and learn to program their robots using block based programming software. After they have mastered basic programming, club meetings will involve the students in programming their robots to accomplish tasks and solve challenges. Problem solving and logical thinking skills will be emphasized. Students will be working in pairs or small teams. Teams will be invited to participate in local competitions.

LEGO Club

LEGO Club at Margate Middle School is a creative and collaborative space where students explore the educational value of LEGO through hands-on activities that promote problem-solving, teamwork, and innovation. It extends the use of LEGO from the classroom into an engaging extracurricular setting, encouraging students to build, imagine, and learn together. The club also participates in special events like the LEGO/STEM Mods Van field trip, offering students immersive experiences in science and engineering.

The SECME club involves itself in technology-rich competitions within the district with an aim on national competitions. Students learn how to access information that will enable them to become budding engineers. The club meets every other week as announced on the Morning Announcements. Students will come away with a strong sense of camaraderie.

Student Government Association (SGA) at Margate Middle School empowers students to become leaders and active participants in shaping their school community. Through elected positions and regular meetings, SGA members represent the student body, organize events like the Fall Dance, and collaborate with faculty to enhance school spirit and engagement. The organization fosters leadership, responsibility, and teamwork, while also providing opportunities for students to voice their ideas and concerns. SGA members are expected to be role models, demonstrating citizenship and initiative both in and out of the classroom. Activities include planning celebrations, hosting elections, and participating in district-wide leadership meetings.
